Shachi Solanki read law from the prestigious National Law University, Delhi. She has experience in litigation and legislative and policy research through her previous work with a Senior Advocate and also a Member of Parliament (MP), respectively. Her areas of research include personal and non-personal data regulation and intermediary liability. During her stint with a Rajya Sabha MP, she worked on data governance and privacy, particularly on the seminal personal data protection bill that is currently under consideration of the federal government.
She also regularly works on various regulatory frameworks, covered by a diverse set of entities such as the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeiTY),
She is also working on regulatory frameworks around India’s emerging Fintech industry, the use of new technologies such as Cloud computing for the Critical Information Infrastructure (CII) space and also beginning to look at the use of misinformation and disinformation.
She keenly follows developments in data governance, platform regulation, cyber security, and their interaction with constitutional law and discourse on human rights. Her work at DeepStrat lies at the intersection of technology and regulation. As a Programme Manager with DeepStrat, she leads the public policy risk mitigation team that advises clients on potential and current risks. She leverages her training in law and experience to further DeepStrat’s research output, policy risk management and growth.
